Cackling with glee

Inspired by hp_britglish I have just come up with a splendid idea for the April omniocular non-fiction challenge: a chapter from a popular Wizarding World pregnancy and baby-care manual, specifically the chapter entitled

What if my baby is a Squib?

"Every expectant mother hopes for a healthy baby, and the birth of a defective child is always a matter of great sadness. First of all, do not reproach yourself! You have not caused this fault in your child by drinking farpleweed for morning sickness or by riding a broomstick. It is a tragedy we cannot yet explain. One day Natural Philosophers may be able identify witches at greater risk of giving birth to Squibs, but the main concern for the new mother should be in ensuring an appropriate solution for her family. This chapter seeks to answer some of the more common questions. You may also wish to seek advice from the various services available to help parents in this situation."

Damn. I was not planning to do that tonight (well, when I get back from Ian McEwan talking about his new novel, which should be interesting as I have some serious issues with it).
