Of course I wanted to go to some remote hike in the mountains but my mother insisted we go to the fancy tourtisty-poet's walk and then meet her after for lunch. So we packed and locked the trunk full of our stuff and headed off on our walk. When we ( Read more... )

Aww...That sucks. I had my purse stolen once at a bar, when my male friends were actually supposed to be watching it. As a consequence, I spent the night sneaking into their hostel with them. I know how it feels. Hope you get evrything back quickly. And remember: the DMV should not make you pay for stolen licenses.

That sucks! I have a hard time not thinking things like that have meaning, also. Was that at Poets Walk near Bard? Good birding and some interesting stuff in the woods near the river, BUT definately not a HIKE :)

exactly- yes it was Poet's Walk. I wanted to go to Huckleberry Point- the hike by Platcove in Woodstock- where this wouldn't have happened!- but my mom talked us out of it so we could have lunch with her in Rhinebeck. It turns out that Poet's walk is like a crime magnet- not even including the rape from like 5 years ago these robberies are not uncommon- the last one was on 5 weeks ago but they don't want to post anything about it because it may...get this... decrease popularity of the site. ARGH!!

That sucks! I know what you mean about feeling tested--just have to take things in stride.

Good luck with everything.
