Sad about:
1. TxtLJ is gone!? Nooooo!
Okay, it definitely isn't something I need, especially since I don't have nice package for texting costs, but still. It was nice to be able to receive comments while I'm out shopping and stuff.
2. After putting it off forever, I finally watched the final Tennant episodes of Doctor Who. And :(
I have a confession to make (and this is coming from a never-watched-old-Who fan): The Master doesn't amuse me. I don't like him as a villain; I think the actor's great and I don't hate what they do with him, but by the second part of the series three finale I was really bored with him. So I was a bit...meh about seeing they would bring him back. But while the villainous antics were even more over-the-top than before, I did certainly enjoy the enigmatic interactions between him and the Doctor. I really did.
I thought the mental defense mechanism with Donna was...I'm not gonna say "a cop-out," but it was a bit anti-climactic, and I was disappointed to see everything they did with Donna seem limited to just some exposition of where she ends up. But oh, I ADORED her grandfather as temporary companion. Bernard Cribbins is such a great actor and the character is heartbreaking and endearing but never a stereotype and it killed me when he was begging the Doctor to try to stay alive.
The final few minutes were so well done, and my sister and I were literally cheering over the Jack scene. Nothing about the Doctor's death really surprised me, but it's interesting to compare him to how the ninth handles his regeneration and I think his intense fear of death really made sense. Ten has always seemed like he's supposed to be the most "human" incarnation there's ever been, and he should feel too young to die. But it was hard to watch. I didn't feel a lot of closure.
HAPPY ABOUT:
1. I'm going to be celebrating Halloween in St. Louis with my frieeends. I'm not sure what the specific plans are, but I'm going to be wearing
this, which is kind of hilarious. I waited till graduating college to start wearing the hoochy costumes, this is ass-backwards.
Yeah, the whip is included.
2. Pulp lyrics. Approximately every 1-2 years I get obsessed with the song "Like A Friend" for a while.
3. Stoneridge Creamery Ice Cream. Seriously, I am talking about an ice cream company in my LJ because it's that awesome. They make some of the best store-bought ice cream I have ever had and I had already had my mind made up about this before I noticed that it's only about two to three dollars a container, and apparently was originally distributed only at value stores. Their vanilla has the bean flecks in it and the fudge ribbons are actually liquidy and seriously can you tell that I'm excited about this ice cream.
4. I WON THIS GOLDEN CYLON GODDAMN.
no_takebacks had an "Oscar Week" and my pilots BB fic got nom'd and actually won. I've never gotten an award for writing fic before. *cries* YOU LIKE ME, YOU REALLY LIKE ME.
