Hey, you updated! :D I am glad to know that you are mostly good, and I hope the bad things are something you can control and nothing serious *hugs*.
Time management can be hard, especially when you are in the process of getting used to a new daily routine... Rubric scoring (I had to look that up) sounds to me like the kind of attention-consuming task that can leave you mentally spent. But I guess you'll probably adapt after a while and feel less tired when you arrive home. My BF has the same problem, btw. I've been trying to get him to write on a daily basis lately (he is terrible at keeping a regular schedule and I am helping him with that), but between his job and his on-off gigs as graphic designer, more often than not he is not in the right mental frame for working on his writing projects... which I get, of course, but IDK. I just hate to see that RL burdens are preventing him from doing something he truly enjoys and is pretty good at. So, I am sending you loads of good vibes so you can get into the mood of writing again :)
Btw, how awesome is that you can go out for dinner with your sis to celebrate your progress on some fic? Haha. No, seriously, it is really awesome. I wish you the best of luck with your novel-lenght ST story. It must be hard to be working on the same project for such a big amount of time, but I am sure it will be extremely rewarding when you eventually reach the end.
When did my fanfic life become tiny book fandoms + Star Trek is what I would like to know. That’s definitely… peculiar XD. For some reason I only seem to get fannish about books lately, which is far from being the smartest choice, lol, because book fandoms are tiny if not non-existent (I almost died from excitement the other day when saw that someone had posted on AO3 some little thing for The Goldfinch and promised to write more at some point, heh).
As for tv shows... I started watching Sleepy Hollow but stopped somewhere along the way for no special reason... I still intend to finish S1 when I am in the mood, but even though I like the characters (I have to agree Abbie is a great lead), it's like something is missing for me to grab my full attention. I've only watched the pilot of Being Human and thought it was alright. The mix of scifi and crime is very appealing to me, but I have a hard time keeping up with procedurals if they don't have some serialized elements and a good dose of character development, so we'll see.
I would be lying if I said I didn't once again contemplate revisiting the Counterfeits 'verse several times when I was watching it Oooh, I love that fic! I've even reread it a couple of times. I definitely wouldn't mind to see more stuff centered on that ‘verse.
The Americans is J's current favorite show and one of the few I look forward to every week. I thought of you the other day when they showed some flashbacks of Philip and Elizabeth getting to the business of making babies. It was a very welcome surprise, though I was left wanting more. Matthew Rhys is one of these guys with an understated sort of charisma I find sexy. It's kinda amazing how he always manages to rock all those wigs... I laughed when saw somewhere Keri complaining about her wigs making her look atrocious (which is not true in any way), but of course, she has amazing hair, so I doubt any wig can compete with that :P
PS. Hey, how about The Borgias? A couple of my online friends love it and were raving about the ship (you know which I am talking about) a while ago, and I saw you recently finished it. Worth watching, what do you think? Also, because that place is a mess, lol, I have no idea if you saw my reply on tumblr regarding The Hour, but I def. recommend it if you love Ben Whishaw even if the second season ends with a major cliffhanger. Trust me on that one. Or maybe not! :P
Btw, how awesome is that you can go out for dinner with your sis to celebrate your progress on some fic? LOL, it is pretty awesome...She and the s.o. are my only RL people who know/care about the whole fandom thing, and it's pretty cool to get to vent/flail about it with her a lot. I am currently trying to get on her to try to finish more fic, though XD
Book fandoms can be so sad, haha. I would think The Goldfinch might pick up at least a tiny bit more fannish enthusiasm over time because it's so recent (and so long). I have often run into authors who just find it too hard to write for book fandoms because when it's already in writing it's so daunting to imitate or intrude on the style or whatever, which maybe contributes to how dead book fandoms tend to be. And I agree it's hard...but it's fun. LOL
I definitely wouldn't mind to see more stuff centered on that ‘verse. That's nice to hear! Even if I don't add on another full-length fusion, I've had a lot of ideas about it from time to time, so who knows.
And yeah, Matthew/Phillip wasn't super attractive to me at the beginning of the show, but there's something subtly very hot about him. That quote about the wigs also made me laugh...Apparently I'm not the only one who finds some of the disguises strangely attractive.
Oh, I loved The Borgias. The first few episodes were a bit boring to me, but I'm so glad I stuck with it. I'm sure it's not very historically accurate (the other series they made recently, I think it's just called Borgia, I've heard takes less liberties) but oh, all my anti-hero feels about that show... And I thought they did a pretty good job with the wide range of female characters.
And I did see your reply about The Hour - definitely planning on giving it a try : )
