 Christine:  hehe
me:  other than they're big furry spider things
Christine:  or blog about where you would go if someone gave you 10,000 dollars and said you had to spend it on a trip somewhere.
 me:  hmmm

$10,000 on a trip.  So obviously money is not a major issue here.  Time, however... that's the bitch of the situation.  When you work in retail, it simply isn't a good idea to take a ton of time away from the job.  But if time were not an issue...

It would be a road trip, for starters.  I like to drive, I don't mind driving, I find it soothing.  So there's money for gas and oil changes and the potential flat tire.  And I would take someone with me, maybe two people.  People I could talk to for hours on end, or just be in the same car with for hours on end, even if it wasn't all spent in conversation.  There are a few people in the world whose very presence makes me feel more... normal? content? ...and they're the people that I would choose to accompany me on such a trip.

I don't think I'd set out with any particular destination in mind.  I've always liked the idea of just driving to be driving and letting the road take me where it will.  I'd follow my whims, or the whims of whomever is with me, and we'd bounce around the country, seeing those sights we've each always wanted to see, zig-zagging all over the place, staying in cheap motels and eating junk food.  And I'm serious about the junk food--burgers, ice cream, pizza, pie, crackers, chips, cookies, pop...  Hell, alcohol.  I have to confess, there are times when I wish drinking and driving wasn't illegal, but I'm not stupid enough to advocate changing that particular law.  There would just have to be a DD whenever the booze comes into the picture.

And we'd just go until the money runs out.  Bounce around the country.  Party... or not.  Hang out in the motels all day if we want to.  Maybe even splurge now and again on a nicer hotel or a decent dinner.  Catch a concert or a ballgame now and again.  See Niagara Falls or Mount Rushmore or the Grand Canyon.  Spend some time in big cities and some time in the middle of nowhere.  Just do a general "fuck you" to the rest of the world and do as we please.  That's what I'd like to do.
