I was kind of browsing over old entries earlier this week, reading little snippets from my life circa 2002, which were surprisingly interesting. It's so weird to be able to look back on yourself via text and observe all the ways you've changed over the past 6 or 7 years. An incredible amount has happened during that period of time, probably my busiest stretch of life to date. I've been married almost 5 years now, worked a series of crap jobs, spent two years in the Philippines with Peace Corps, and now I'm getting ready to take another step, moving to the east coast and go to grad school. I've been accepted to the University of Maryland and U of Vermont so far, waiting to hear back from Fordham still, and to see if I'm offered any money, before I make final decisions. Although I fought this year back in St. Louis, it's been fine and was totally worth it since it meant that one of us would get a Masters for free. I'm looking forward to moving on though, and excited to start a new life out on the east coast. I'm also really excited to get back into school. Looking over my entries I was hating school so much, but I think now I have enough distance between myself and undergrad, and I've found a sense of purpose, and also gotten a glimpse at what my working life could look like if I just sit around and do nothing. The job market sucks ass right now, but also part of it is the fact that a BA or BS just really doesn't mean that much anymore.
So anyway I'm going to start writing here again, mostly because I really like having a place to type out thoughts that's not really public, and I've tried many times to do a paper journal; it always feeling too damn "Dear Diary."
