It has been a non-stop cheese-a-thon since being back in the US. Lots of good oregon microbrews. Visited Abby's brother in medford, lounged around, we've done a lot of walking, in the park and in the city, just enjoying the quiet and the clean. Downtown Portland seems so quiet. Being back in the US has been good, but weird. Twelve pound packages of pork steaks in the grocery store, cars everywhere, fat people. On the drive down we cruised through Seattle in the carpool lane because we were the only car out of thousands with more than one person in the car. It's been great to be back, but oddly unsettling like I need to go back to the Philippines because somehow things make more sense. People in the US buy shit like it's a bodily function, and I'm not ready for that, ever. I'll be happy to be back in 7 months, but it's going to be a tough adjustment, wading through the sea of crap and wishing there were only 3 kinds of toothpaste to choose from...
