Canon: Harry Potter
Character: Molly Weasley
Timeline: Early Deathly Hallows, just at the beginning of her son, Bill's, wedding

Personality:

It would be more correct to say that motherhood is defined by Molly Weasley than Molly Weasley being defined by motherhood. Headstrong, determined, unbelievably patient and incredibly devoted, Molly is a very strong woman who is in the business of not tolerating nonsense. A general impression of her is that she is a busy woman, always on the move and on the move in a manner that is reminiscent of someone trying to lead a three ringed circus. Raising seven magical children will have that effect on anyone, though Molly bears the task with grace and startling efficiency.

The key word that comes to mind when describing Molly is loving. Protective, Molly holds her loved ones close to her and strives to make sure that they're - if not the very best - certainly the most respected among their peers. This is shown especially with her children, as Molly is depicted in canon as praising of their accomplishments but also quickly calling them out on their sidesteps from grace. Molly holds very high expectations of her family, and she assumes that they will be met with little to no complaint. This mindset often gives someone an intimidating impression of the Weasley matriarch, but while Molly is most definitely imposing, she is also someone that throws her entire heart into caring for people. Mrs. Weasley loves fiercly, and she will go out of her way to make sure that people's bellies are full and their feelings are positive. It doesn't take much to earn Molly's affection, as seen in canon with how she immediately adopts Harry Potter into her surrogate family, and it is typically nothing short of genuine.

However, Molly can also be nothing short of mule-headed. She holds a strict set of standards and she expects them all to be adhered to. Molly can also make snap judgements of people, particularly people who she believes are a bad influence on her family, such as her lukewarm treatment of Fleur after she and Molly's eldest son Bill started seeing each other romantically. This also goes outside of people - when in an argument, if Molly says she's right, Molly Weasley is right. She's a person who doesn't want to be told she's in the wrong, and will often not acknowledge that she is even when the evidence is glaringly right in front of her. Because of this conviction, Molly can also be viewed as a meddler, and a touch overbearing when she thinks she knows what's best - which is almost always.

Molly also has a mean streak when provoked, a really, really badass mean streak. If someone threatens someone Molly loves, there will be hell in a cable knit shawl to pay. While Molly will usually replace her temper with barking out commands and establishing order, there are several spots that will get her clearly upset. The most important of these is harming, or threatening to harm, her kids. Molly lives for her children, and will not tolerate anyone who attacks them - whether it be aiming a killing curse or making fun of their robes. She may be a bit of a slave driver at home, but she makes it perfectly clear that yelling is her job and no one else's. Molly Weasley is very much a Mama Bear, and there isn't anything she wouldn't do to spare her cubs from hurt.

Abilities/Additional Notes:

Supreme Mothering. Molly has had seven children, raising them all with her husband Arthur, and the experience has given her almost otherworldly powers. She can guilt trip like the best of them, beguile anyone into doing household chores with only A Look, and she can also knit Really Horrible Sweaters. But that is not all of Molly's abilities - she can send excellent Howlers, unofficially adopt orphaned children, and keep anyone - even people who have never met her - in line with a pointed finger and strong tone.

Oh, and magic.

Molly is a witch, one that is deceptively skilled in dueling. In canon she has bested Bellatrix Lestrange, one of Voldemort's strongest supporters. There's more to Molly than just the apron and knitting needles, though she quite prefers the knitting needles.
