So with the threat of losing mikeberoza's cyber friendship, I've decided to begin posting in here again.
Also though, I realized I originally made this journal as a joke of sorts, and then moved on to using it as a weapon of mass destruction. Perhaps it would be good to write for real.
I still owe everyone a Top Moments of Summer 2007 list. I've been putting it off I think because it doesn't really feel like it ever ended.
The most noteworthy thing of late is, of course, the beginning of autumn. I love autumn. Summer is nice in an obvious kind of way. Autumn is the unconventionally beautiful season that bears us the fruit of life, also known as pumpkins.
Sunday was September 23, the first day of autumn. As usual, I delayed pumpkin consumption until that day. I deserve an award for my self-control. The pumpkin pancakes almost broke me down with mere days to go, but I held strong. Luckily, this year I had Emily delaying pumpkin consumption too which was helpful.
Shout out to Tyler, who made the first venture of the day phenomenal. We had planned to arrive at Starbucks around 11am, to let Tyler make our drinks and prepare our pumpkin snacks. However, because I'm me, we didn't arrive until noon. Justin was given strict and specific orders which he carried out to perfection. We ingested pumpkin loaf, and pumpkin muffins with pumpkin drizzle on the plates. Oh, and the pumpkin spice lattes - always just as good as I want them to be. Pumpkins in liquid form is probably the best idea ever, especially for a lazy eater.
The rest of the day is a blur of driving and talking and wearing autumn hats. We drove all the way out east looking for pumpkin picking, which apparently is not in season quite yet. We settled on small pre-picked pumpkins, and continued driving around. When Emily and I don't see each other for a few days there is a lot to catch up on so we sought out more warm beverages at a confusing half bank half starbucks.
Fortunately, Emily is aware that the perfect day necessitates the perfect mix CD, so Autumnal Equinox 2007 blasted from the Jetta all day. It may be the best mix CD ever, it could be marketed. If you can combine sentiment, pretentiousness, and sexy Paris Hilton music - you know you have yourself a winner. Emily is also the kind of friend that can make you the perfect mix cd, and then you can drool around her and pick your nose, and she still wants to see you the next day. We also joined Emily's dad for mexican food in smithtown, and then headed off to meet MarieJordan at a softball game where we proceeded to cheer on our good friends, the Cocks. They didn't win, but they put on a good show, and we got to do a 3 person wave. A lot of good bonding with Emily and Marie, and a lot more pumpkin ingestion. A pumpkins life was threatened, but luckily said threats were empty in nature. My crush on Paul Westerberg marches on.
So, in summary, autumn is here. Welcome autumn!
Next on the agenda, welcoming scarf season.
Also, check out the new Foo Fighters CD. It's pretty good - I like being reminded that Dave Grohl can still write good music besides just looking good.
