Title: At Dawn Characters: Edrington Notes: Flashfic, inspired by the current fight challenge at hh100 and by black_hound's request here for visually suggestive Older!Edrington ficlets.
My poor, lovely Edrington, so chilly and disdainful. But then, it's hardly surprising to find that a post-Kingston Edrington would be every bit as cool, brittle and aloof as Horatio. Hmmm...I wonder why that is?
Ans I loved that last line; so much intimated about the tenor of their relationship.

Eee!
D'you ever become so attached to the pairing in your head that you occasionally have to remind yourself that it is, in fact, an AU? (e.g., "Well, of course Edrington would have been hit hard by the events of "Retribution," given the intense, highly fraught emotional triangle existing between him, Archie, and Horatio... Er. That is to say, the intense, highly fraught emotional triangle between them existing in my head. Ahem.")

I have no idea what you're talking about.
(e.g., "Well, of course Edrington would have been hit hard by the events of "Retribution," given the intense, highly fraught emotional triangle existing between him, Archie, and Horatio... Er. That is to say, the intense, highly fraught emotional triangle between them existing in my head. Ahem.")
/remains confused
Nope, still not getting it.
/looks at angsy Archie/Edrington fic currently on harddrive
It's canon, dammit! something that pretty and angstridden can't be a figment of our imaginations! It can't!
("It's not an AU! I can back it up with scholarly analyses!...What do you mean, they're fictional too?")
Well, you can be the one to break that bit of news to Eustace Knowles and Meredith Reid, et al, 'cos I sure as hell won't be doing it. I want my head to stay where it is currently attached, thank you very much! DR. Reid is currently applying or a fellowship to Cambridge and she wouldn't appreciate being told she's fictional. After all, i'm still hping she might write a full bio on Archie Kennedy/Arthur Kendall/William Clayton some day.
