I am LOVING my job. Seriously. I've never adjusted to a new place so quickly and felt so wanted/needed/appreciated before. I'm doing something I'm good at, the people I work with are fun and I'm in a position to have a positive effect on the office. It's fantastic.
On the flip side, I'm poor. No money coming until a week from Friday so my out-of-the-house extracurricular activities will be minimal until then. My sweetie starts his new job next Wednesday and he'll be working straight through the weekend, which means no shared days off for now. We'll see how long that lasts as the store is new and the scheduling isn't set in stone. Hopefully, he'll end up working just one weekend day and this weekend won't be the last of our full days off together.
I'm reading American Gods by Neil Gaiman (can't figure out how I never picked this one up before) and wishing I had more time to just sit and read it. Once upon a time, I read anything I could get my hands on and once I started a book, you wouldn't see me until I was done with it. I'd get books for Christmas and spend the rest of the day in my room charging through them so that I'd be done by bedtime that night and looking around for something else to start so I wouldn't have to go to sleep. Anymore, I only seem to find the time to read for fun if I'm riding the streetcar or bus on my way somewhere... it's annoying as hell to only catch a total of 40 minutes of a book that I'm really enjoying and trying to get into. Maybe if we end up not sharing days off, I'll start making time to read again.
