don't wanna be in love just with anybody

"I’m a person that has high highs and low lows. A lot of things make me sad. Sometimes it’s almost easier to be sad. But you do end up finding a balance and I think that as I get older I am learning what I can do for myself to make me happy." - Mary Kate Olsen

life is hard

i thought this was a pelican but now i don't think so. whatever it is, i chased it around for a good ten minutes.

These last couple of days have been a whirlwind. My limbs are begging for a massage given the physical activity I subjected myself to in the last four days. Nonetheless, I am happy & would do it all over again in a heartbeat. It was a weekend worth reliving and it was a great way to spend the last days of being a 25-year old. I'm now a year older and at the (not-so) tender age of 26, I am ready to see what this year has to offer. 25 was pivotal, no doubt. But 26? Let's see what you've got. ;)

I will write about Payal & Joe's wedding in a separate entry because that itself deserves its own post. It was spectacular.

There's something about Venice Beach that makes me want to break out into Sublime songs. Yes, I'm well aware that Sublime was from Long Beach but that didn't stop me from singing "What I Got" as I got ready for the day. (FYI, I also sang "Closing Time" by Semisonic and a bunch of Third Eye Blind songs because it just fit the mood.) Our hotel was in a prime location; right on the beach and less than a 10 minute walk to the main street. The early mornings were cloudy but cleared up by 10:00 AM. The weather was perfect. The water was perfect. We frolicked in the ocean for hours. We even stayed until sundown. It was glorious.

On Sunday, we rented beach cruisers. For $6 an hour, who could pass up such a sweet deal? Given that I haven't ridden a bicycle since I was 10, I was a little shaky at first. There were several "near-collisons" but I managed to come out relatively unscathed. And I had a blast so it was well worth it.

Venice Beach, you took me by surprise and I fell in love with you. Thank you for the hospitality, perfect weather, the flood of cute canines, muscular joggers, stoners, and sunkissed/sunburned men & women. We will meet again.
