Greetings.. and question about IKEA
Hey LJ friends... Loonng time no write, huh? I did update my profile pic... i'm so twisted. LOL ..UPDATE nina! Dammit!
One is coming soon, it's in the works and almost ready for completion. I have a quick favor to ask of you all.
Great news for all you IKEA lovers, they're building one in Atlanta, GA, (completion date targeted for Summer 2005), a mere 4.5 hours from me and one of my favorite cities. I'm renting a one-way U-haul next summer haha! Anywho, I've been trying to get them to send me a catalog, but they won't send any to any of my addresses - home, work, nothing! Just wondering since I know some of you are close to an IKEA if I give you money for postage will you mail me any paperwork and catalogs (the regular catalog and the kitchen one)? Pretty please! I'll buy you a cool gift from Charleston, too! :D
I'm hoping to move out to a small house or apartment by the end of the year, and of course I'll need to get some new stuff.
So far I have:
+ TV
+ 2 brass etegers (kinda like brass bookshelves w/ glass shelves.) from my aunt and uncle, which I'm hoping to refinish to a dark brown or black, but more towards brown (anyone ever work with refinishing brass? any pointers? i haven't found much online.)
+ couch and loveseat which i want to re-upholster (anyone ever re-upholster cloth couches before? yeah, i know i can slipcover, but i really want to re-upholster.)
+ leather recliner (might take this, might not.)
+ microwave
+ bookshelf/small entertainment center
+ tv stand
+ computer desk
+ small steel bookshelf
+ bed (might leave this at home)
+ dresser (might leave this at home, too)
I'm going to have to buy a few things, but I think that having the things I already have is going to be a huge help expense-wise. I've already put my savings plan in order and have been sticking to it pretty well for the past month and a half. I can't believe that in saving money I haven't blown away so much, and I can't believe I've been BLOWING AWAY so damn much! What the hell Nina!? Haha.
Anyway, gonna Google "re-upholstering couches." If anyone has any good links or ideas on refinishing and updating old furniture, give 'em over :)
