I'm eighteen years old and live in England. I love to write-- all of my spare time I juggle between working to pay my way to a degree in English Lang/Lit and writing. My sixth form work isn't going to well because I spend a lot of my time daydreaming about silly things like time-travel and post-apocalyptic Bristol. My favourite things in the word are zombies, although they are also the things that most scare me. A lot of the things I write are centred around zombie invasions.
My writing is pretty diverse, although I don't generally write dramas involving people living normal lives. There has to be a bit of sci-fi or even fantasy involved, otherwise it's just not fun.
I have three younger sisters and a younger brother, meaning we have a pretty full house. We never have much money but we're comfortable enough. My brother moved from the box room into the garage a few years ago, and we built an extension so us girls didn't have to share any more. Nevertheless, we have to pay our own way to things, meaning that I work a lot.
It doesn't bother me-- in fact, I quite like it. People who are spoilt too much never turn out so brilliantly, after all.
None of my family is religious in particular: my mother is a Japanese emigrant who doesn't care much for Christianity and my dad is a science-and-maths nut, meaning that we were always brought up in a pretty much Athiest household. I dabbled in religion for a bit but for now I've decided to leave it well alone. Whomever or whatever created the universe, kudos to them, but I don't have the time for worship.
Although I'm generally quite friendly, I'm seen as a bit of a stranger by most people around me, but I don't mind that either. Sometimes I have such vivid daydreams that I can't snap out of them even when people are calling my name. I have three of the best friends that anyone could ask for and a lovely (although temperamental!) boyfriend, and generally I split my time between these four people.
My family are loud and insane and there's almost always the sound of crashing and shouting, and of course I do my bit to join in, but I love them and I'm really glad that they're mine. My dad drives a yellow Fiat Panda while wearing his dinky suit for inspecting houses, which makes him look like a character from Balamori and makes me laugh. My mum is a dental hygienist who is Japanese and I often help her to write her reports. I was born in Japan but I moved here when I was young and don't really speak much of the language any more.
I've loved the English language ever since I learned it-- it has a word for every shade of meaning, and when I started to talk and think in English, wonderful worlds began to open up in my head. Sometimes, I still can't find words for the things that pop up in my mind, but I don't mind too much I suppose.
Tonight is one of my sisters' sixteenth birthday and she is having a Lady Gaga themed party, meaning that we are all dressed in fishnets and other crazy gear. I dreaded wearing a costume but the one I'm wearing is lovely, a military-style ensemble along with a real military peaked cap that I got from the vintage shop in Glastonbury.
Speaking of Glastonbury, I managed to get tickets for the festival this year, which has totally made year.
Non-existent reader, this is the end of my post.
