Huh, so you can't log into YouTube anymore without having a google account.

I don't use my real name on my gmail account. It's my online name which I have gone by for....about 10 years now. my Youtube was already linked to that account for email purposes...so I guess it didn't make a difference to me to link it further since...it's not my legal information anyway?

but that's a bummer for you T.T

Hnn, apparently they won't accept any random info anymore, but you have to give them something real, like your address or phone number or so.

Yeah, I'll miss YouTube. I mean, I'll still check out video there, but I won't be able to comment or upload anything anymore.

Unless I figure out a way of getting a google account without giving them any real life related info on myself.

really? that's stupid -kicks them-

Right, that's the bummer part!

Umm...make up addresses and stuff? I've....done that in the past...for things I didn't want knowing my real info...

So far, whenever they wanted to know address or phone number, they wanted the info to then send an activation code either per mail or by text messaging. So, a made-up info wouldn't work.

Meh, I'll just stand by and see what happens next. If they don't change it, I'll just go looking for an alternative. And maybe they'll come to their senses.

Sorry, stumbled over your post.
I had the same trouble last time I wanted to get into youtube and resited for one week, cos I find it stupid that I need an google account to use youtube. But I obeyed a couple of days ago and that's when I got confused, cos I wasn't asked to put cellphone number or anything. If I remember correctly they only wanted a username and a new password, which is already enough that I had to do it and still pretty stupid.

No problem. :)

Yeah, they asked me for my username and a new password, too. And when I entered that, they wanted my cell number.

Maybe it was a glitch? I wouldn't know.

But, to be honest, there are so many other video sites around that are just as good as YouTube (or better, because they're less strict on copyright issues). I'll just go and sign up there. It's about time YouTube loses its monopoly anyway.
