Week 7/4

You know how every time anyone has surgery everyone is all "make sure you rest! Don't push yourself too hard!" as though there's a nice convenient monitor somewhere that will start to redline when you start to go "too far." Sadly, there's not. Definitely pushed myself a little too hard last week so this weekend was 100% rest and recovery. The weather cooperated by being cool and overcast which made it even easier to stay inside and decorate eggs. Yay getting some eggs decorated! It's very satisfying to both start and complete something concrete that you can hold in your hand. Did not get much exercise and drove absolutely nowhere which was delightful.

Monday back to being a full time patient with acupuncture and massage appointments (accompanying driving to SW and then downtown) followed by dinner with friends. Was delightful to have conversation and even have a few sips of an adult beverage (just sampling, I don't really feel like delving into alcohol just yet even if the surgeon says it's ok) but I ate waaaaay too much. Wouldn't have been much by my normal standard a few months ago: small bowl of split pea soup with a couple slices of a baguette, 2 chunks of roasted beet with a about 1/2 tbsp sprinkled chevre and a yellow stuffed pepper. I suspect it was the stuffed pepper that really did me in with it's multiple kinds of cheese. More cheese than I've had in the last month combined (which, ok, isn't saying much since I've had maybe 2 slices of goat cheese cheddar in the last month, grand total.) When I stood up after dinner I noticed that my stomach was sticking out at least 3 inches further than before dinner! Crazyness. And a little sad, as yesterday morning I was just putting on clothes and thinking that the bloat was reducing to a manageable level. Not "wear form fitting tshirt" level but "not gonna be confused for a pregnant lady in loose tshirt" level. So the bloat was back last night even after I dosed with mega-digestive enzymes. And then this morning...I discovered that happens when I eat cheese without a gallbladder. Will be keeping that in mind.

Today back to PT after fourth sleepless night in a row. No idea why I can't sleep but it's getting tiresome (hahahaha). Was determined to get to bed early tonight...but it's now 11pm so clearly I should really stop typing and go to bed like I told myself I would. Another round of PT tomorrow, then follow up with Ortho surgeon on Thursday, and more PT Friday. Good talk.
