In honor of being fully one month post-op (labral refixation and some shaving off of bony abnormality) I present photos. Some might be a little gross if you have issues with sutures and bruising.
http://Here there be sutures!Well, not right away. Because first there were a couple hours of waiting in the prep area. The hospital socks were awesomeness, as predicted. I didn't think to take a pic of the personal climate zone (adjustable temperature hot air piped directly into the dual thickness paper gown), which is too bad. It was amazing. You can kind of see it peeking it out under the blanket, next to the brace which will be placed on my leg after the procedure to keep me from accidentally moving my knee while the leg is full numb.
Ready to go!
Didn't get a post-op selfie, sorry folks. I was to busy trying to figure out how to pee with a fully immobilized straight leg. And then getting dressed. Oy vey, good thing there was a nurse there whose sole job seemed to be to help me with those two tasks. And make sure I didn't face plant while still on OHSU grounds.
Two days later took my first shower and removed the bandages covering the entire area. Interesting in retrospect how small that bruise but how intense. It looks like marbled ground beed smooshed under saran wrap. I was very relieved (and much less light headed looking at it) once it faded into a proper looking bruise.
A week later. Proper looking bruises developing nicely and the sutured area looking more like flesh and less like a science experiment.
After 2 wk post op apt they removed the sutures and replaced with steri-strips. Much less icky.
And now today, same incision sites sans first scab, still some slight bruising underneath but looking pretty darned good, if I do say so myself. I can defininitely still *feel* the incision sites, they are raised and a little hard to the touch. Working (mostly in PT but also a little each day at home) on mobilizing the area and breaking up all that scar tissue.
Looking pretty good!
