Day 24/5: Sleeping the day away

Sep 20, 2014 13:39

Last night sleeping in my own bed was *much* more restful than the previous night in the hospital. Set an alarm for every 4 hours (figuring that each painkiller dose should be at east 3 hrs but no more than 4 hrs apart) and always woke inside that span for a snack, pills, water, toilet, back to sleep. Had ice machine and heating pad plugged in and alternated which one to use after each dose. Heat seems to get me to nodding off faster but ice has me waking up feeling less stretched out and bloated. Went to be bed around 8pm, up for re-dosing at 10pm, 1:30am, 5am, and up for breakfast at 8am. After breakfast had trouble keeping my eyes open so back to bed for a couple hours. Up around noon for lunch and now thinking I might try to get a shower in today before taking another nap. I've always been terrible at naps, but this round of recovery is clearly the exception. Guessing i'll spend about 5 hours of today upright and with eyes open, and that will all be either eating, typing, watching TV, or some combination of the two.

Belly still wicked bloated even now that everything is "moving" normally. Pain is simmering down from "active seppuku" and edging towards "damn that was a killer ab workout yesterday". transitioning from sitting to lying down and back up to sitting is the worst. Have been able to sleep sometimes on my back and sometimes on my left side, tho the first 10-15 minutes on left side is excruciatingly painfull before it quiets down...once quieted down i seem to sleep longer and deeper on my side.
