Title: In the City that Care Forgot
Pairing: Severus Snape/Remus Lupin
Rating: R ish
Disclaimer: Not mine, no castle in Scotland, wouldn’t have offed Snape.
Summary: Severus and Remus holiday in New Orleans close to Halloween.
Notes: Thanks for running this again! Always wonderful to play and watch! Tarot cards inspired by a card I saw on Society6.
It was still warm in New Orleans in late October. They made their way through the artist kiosks, musicians and tarot card readers in Jackson Square. It was a strange mix of bright and somber, colours and sounds.
Remus touched his elbow. Severus shook his head.
“A non-believer then.” The woman’s voice noted knowingly.
“Merely pragmatic.”
“What do you have to lose?”
Remus laid down a twenty-dollar bill.
She shuffled the deck and indicated that Severus should cut it.
With a long-suffering sigh, he did.
She turned the first card, it was an erect penis.
“That is not a standard deck.”
“You are not a standard man. A warrior in your past, in the present a man who enjoys the company of men. Strong and fierce.”
The next card was a pair of long-nailed hands that held a cup that bore a recognizable internationally-known coffeehouse brand. “Dark and bitter.”
“Good guess.” Severus snorted.
“Much like coffee, you are both revered and beloved.”
The third was turned. “An African symbol meaning family.”
“I’m quite single.” Severus sniffed.
Remus coloured.
“Past, present and future.” The seer nodded sagely.
“See here madam…”
Remus opened his hand, a moonstone ring shook slightly in his palm.
