i think my family is fated to always get rejected kittens.
milo was the only one left in his litter at 3 months and the owner of him was driving around in a car to get rid of him.
tim was last born in his litter and his mom just left him in the closet.
digory was mentally handicapped, for real.
foster was first born and abandoned on the kitchen floor because his mom had no idea what the heck was going on and foster scared the hell out of her.
opal was being raised in the woods by a homeless man.
miller was found in a car tire well.
and now this kitten that amy just brought home yesterday was found by a friend on black friday under her car in the parking lot of greendale mall. he was taken to a shelter because he was looking sickly and then amy called to collect him. now he's all better and fixed and home at mom's purring. the friend "thought of us." probably because we're fated to have the rejects. on a good note, all the rejects have proven to be the best cats in the world and actually the only two cats we've never liked are not on the above list of rejects. coincidence? i think not.
also, except for the three cats you'd call mine, all cats on the above list are gray. and it turns out we're not the only ones to get rejected gray cats. fred's family's dana was found by bill at one week old abandoned by her mother. she had to be fed by dropper by bill and taught how to pee. and then the gray edward is the newest cat acquisition by dan and erin and he was found all alone on the streets of worcester by a dumpster at 3 weeks. those gray cats. i love gray cats. they also happen to be the friendliest, most mellow cats ever, in my opinion. except for dana who would scratch you while purring. i'm honestly afraid of dana. she purrs and purrs and then lunges for your hand with her teeth. she's the only cat in the world who scares me. i even attempted to get the stray, tail-less cat who prowls next door to come over so i could pet him. probably it's best he didn't come near me. best for me and my immune system.
but it'll be so nice to have a new kitten around on christmas. kittens make everything better in my opinion.
did you know that despite my efforts to thwart fate by getting married i'm shaping up to be the cat lady.
