So amid the hustle and bustle here at the in-laws house there appears to be some calm in my spirit. Not sure why. Maybe it's because I actaully have managed some social interaction better than in the past.
Maybe it's because my shoes aren't so tight. ;-)
Regardless things seem to not be bothering me as much as they have in the past. The exception being my daughter who is doing high-speed grazing passes on the food and in general not listening. Such is the life of a teenager on sugar during Christmas.
Still the noise gets to me a bit so I hide in a corner and either sketch or get on the netbook. I don't think I'll ever overcome the sensory issues fully but at least I've managed to make them a little less difficult for me by modifying my reactions to them. I can tune them out for short periods of time - basically until the sound/light levels change and catch my attention again.
We're doing tomorrow morning with my side of the family. Should be interesting. My wife and I agree that if they start fighting we're gone.
The noise level just picked up a bit. It's distracting.
Wondering what other friends abroad are doing for the holidays. I'm supposed to be studying even now but I honestly having relatives in town has thrown my study schedule for a loop. I'll have to make time to pick up the pace again this weekend.
We appear to have been given a Buterball Countertop Turkey Fryer. This actually rocks because a turkey is not the only thing you can fry in these.
My arteries are hardening just thinking about the fried mushrooms, onion rings, and popcorn chicken I can make in these. Hey! I can make batches of the properly sized small spring rolls! Woot!
Of course this also means horribly worse things like fried Oreos and Snickers bars are possible.
(...)
WOOT! ;-P
On the subject of eating well the crock pot meals seem to be working well. I'm eating regularly and better than pre-packaged food. And that makes all the difference for taking my vitamins. And the vitamins are helping considerably.
Thinking seriously about running my own Stalking The Night Fantastic/Fringeworthy/Metamorphosis Alpha campaign. I haven't GM'd in years but there's a ton of things I want to try and I think my compatriots miss gaming. I'll have to actually make sure I have all my numbers and stuff handy and I'll have to read the books again but I think I'm at the point now where I can pull a game out of my ass without too much trouble. Still deciding though.
Have to go now...on nephew duty...
"Two eyes. As often as I can spare them." ;-)
Happy Holidays and a Joyous Yule everyone!
