(Photo was taken in Sweden: it's part of a grave-field consisting of stone circles, almost-round stone settings, and upright stones. It is thought to have been in use during the latter part of the Iron Age: 500-1050 AD.)
My classes will start tomorrow. Exciting new life! Last week was the introduction and I met my new classmates. That was what I was particularly nervous about... Well, they are really nice and we are a very small group, too. Fortunately we have many classes together with second-years, who are also very nice and provide a little more variety!
After four hilarious days of being introduced in the ways of being a Celt (it's what we call all people who are studying the Celtic Languages) I must admit to being emotionally rather exhausted. I tried commenting on a few of my friend's entries, but was having trouble coming up with coherent interesting sentences! (That part was rather frightening.)
Of course the first bit is now over, and I am now perfectly fine, but I just thought I'd let you know why I might be around less in the coming weeks. After all, the first thing we are going to learn is Old Irish, which is (I quote my professor) one of the most complicated languages in the world. Eep! :D
(Can't wait!)
