Character Name; Sokka
Fandom; Avatar: The Last Airbender
Timeline; originally was 3.11, but~ Right after Book III's 12th episode, The Western Air Temple. And therefore decidedly upset.
Abilities before entering the city (if applicable); None, unless you count sarcasm.
History/Background; Sokka grew up in the South Pole with his father and younger sister Katara, while his mother had been killed by the Fire Nation when he was still very young. Since that point, he’s seen Katara as the mother of the family - even going so far as to say he doesn’t remember what his real mother looks like - while he sees himself as the man of the house, especially after his father leaves to fight in the war against the Fire Nation.

His hatred of the nation is quite justified, and although he’s highly skeptic of Aang when he and Katara first meet him, he becomes more willing to trust him once finding out he’s the Avatar, the one destined to snuff out the Fire Nation. As time went on, Sokka later learned to view Aang - and eventually Toph - as family, and would protect them at all costs.

Through their travels around the world, Sokka has met, influenced, and been influenced by a great number of people, from proving his sense of humanity by saving an Earth Kingdom town from being flooded out by rebels to impressing an old swords master to the point of complete and total trust. He’s also quite the ladies man, but it’s safe to say that a certain goddess of the moon keeps him from completely committing to anyone just yet. Er, despite flirting with Ty Lee once. And kissing Suki. And what are those looks from Toph all about? Besides those.

Personality; Two words: sarcastic skepticism. Sokka can always be trusted to point out the worst in any given situation with a sardonic quip, most of which are ill-timed or ignored by his friends. He’s anything but trusting of people he first meets, something he’s quick to make obvious whether the accused party likes it or not. Betraying Sokka is not an option if one wishes to maintain his friendship.

Much wittier than his companions sometimes give him credit for, Sokka is quite the strategist. He’s always the one people look to when they need a plan to bring down the bad guys and he’s also capable of coming up with devices such as bombs, dirigibles, and he even invented a working submarine. However, he is far from humble when he shouldn’t be and many of his over egotistical plans do end up failing miserably.

Commonly, Sokka is his own worst enemy: in either an attempt to prove something, get the last word in, or look better than someone else, Sokka ends up inflicting harm onto himself one way or just ends up playing the fool.

Despite that, Sokka always has the best interests of his companions in mind. While on occasion he feels like he can’t contribute to the group as much or that he feels worthless, Sokka is a valuable member of Team Avatar BoomerAang the group and won’t be getting replaced any time soon.

Loss upon arriving; Hatred of the Fire Nation (basically the memories of what the nation did as a whole and that there's a war going on, though he still hates Zuko and Azula)
Ability gained; Super speed
