I really don't like my lab partner. Yesterday we were supposed to be using the microscope to look at pond water, leaves, animal cell specimens, and some other stuff. Basically we were learning to use it, which I didn't need to do because I've been using a microscope since I was 5. My dad and I used to collect specimens on vacation and take them back to the lab. Yeah, I know, I was beyond nerdy. Anyway. Apparently my lab partner has never used a microscope in her life, and I can understand that. She took a long time to figure out how to focus, locate the specimen on the slide, etc. But she didn't seem to want to do anything! Instead of making her own wet mount like we were supposed to, she wanted to use the other team's after they got done. She didn't want to look long enough to see the cytoplasmic streaming in the Elodea samples. She didn't even want to bother treating the pond water with alcohol to slow down the organism (otherwise they're just a blur as they zoom past). She was like, "oh, just say we saw it, this is taking too long!" Ugh! And I'm stuck with her all semester. What kind of weirdo isn't at all interested in looking at cells under the microscope?! We're made up of cells!!
