Andy arranged to get together with some of his fire-spinning friends for drinks to celebrate his birthday. Somebody brilliantly pointed out that since Andy doesn't drink anyway, they should go out for cake instead. So the plan ended up being cake and drinks yesterday evening.
Andy proudly wore his new derby hat and complemented the look with a shirt and tie emsemble, waistcoat, pocket watch and trench coat.
A few people called to say that they were running late.
Let's go for cake now!
The latecomers can take care of themselves, we're ordering cake first!
I wasn't able to dress up to the same extent, unfortunately, since I don't fit into any of my old clothes anymore. And I forgot to wear a hat, duh.
Looking like a magician. Some said an undertaker, heh.
Hatted and corseted
And THAT is the size of cakes served at
True Confections. Andy and I shared a slice, since it's basically the double height of a regular cake slice! Chocolate orange cake... yummmmm...
About 12 people were there in total, so there were lots of cakes all round. The cake slices are about the size (and prize) of an actual meal rather than just dessert. I cannot imagine ever just having one on my own. It's great having a good excuse to meet up with people and indulge though :) I went home after cake since it's been a long day for me and I was feeling tired. The rest went on to the Wolf and Hound (a nice Irish pub down the road) for drinks and chats.
