I MET ERASURE!

WOW what a day!

Let me start off by telling you about yesterday...

Yesterday was the Elkland/Erasure show at the 9:30 club in DC. Danny and I went and had an excellent time. The show was amazing. Elkland was wonderful live and I got a nice long video on my camera of "Everybody's Moving" which is my favorite of their songs. Erasure blew me away...Andy Bell and Vince Clarke have aged well...they still sound as great as ever! Danny and I were right behind the people who were right in front, and pretty close to the center, so we had the BEST view! The crowd was fun; everyone sang along to all the good old songs like A Little Respect, Love to Hate You, Blue Savannah, Chorus, Chains of Love, etc. Andy's costume changes were amusing too...the last change he wore nothing but a pair of gold-sequin-encrusted briefs and gold glitter boots (yeah, he's gay in case you hadn't already guessed). Excellent show! And afterwards when Danny was in the restroom I was leaning up against the front waiting and one of the roadies came over and said "here" and handed me one of the 4 setlists!!!! Eek! I was giddy. So after that, we tried to meet them but security made everyone leave. About 20 of us were outside by the alley waiting for Erasure to leave, for about an hour and a half. The weather had calmed down a bit, though it was still thundering and lightning-ing...(haha)...and about 10 minutes before they finally left the building, the torrential downpour began :( The crowd of 20 quickly became 5 of us, all sharing Danny's umbrella! Needless to say we quickly became friends with the other people...they were all really cool and dedicated fans. One guy had met and hung out with them back in 92 and had brought pictures with him of that day, hoping to reunite with the band. It was awesome. Anyway, Vince and Andy finally came out and got into the van right away and left...though the 5 of us were standing there soaking trying to get their attention:-/

Such is life...so we all went our separate ways. Danny and I got in his car and my socks were so wet I decided to just leave them on the street (lol). We were still soaking wet though, so the ride home was very uncomfortable.

Anyway, last night some guy outside had told us about a supposed Erasure signing at Tower Records in Georgetown today...so we looked into it. As of last night it didn't seem likely that we would go, but today we decided to throw caution to the wind and go on a little 'adventure' BACK into DC...braving lots of traffic and poor directions. The signing was taking place from 1-3 and when we called, the employee who answered the phone said that the line was sooooooo long. Since we didn't even leave Hagerstown til 1 something, the chances of us getting down there on time were slim. Plus the problem of parking. We had originally decided to take the metro but Danny's friend Matt informed us that the metro makes like 15 stops in between Rockville and Foggy Bottom, and it would take over an hour to get there. Sooo, we decided driving into DC would be the better option, though our chances either way would be slim.

Somehow, we got down to 21st and I street at 2:15...not bad at all! We ended up right by Tower Records! So I hopped out of the car and got in line while Danny went to find parking. There were a few people in line outside, so I just assumed the line went upstairs or something. I was waiting nervously, hoping Danny could find parking. Then I overheard the employee who was watching the door say on his walkie talkie, "yeah there's only like 6 people left out here"...and I realized...the line was only 6 people long, including me! ACK!!! :-D Sooo...finally we got ushered in and I looked to my left and there were Erasure!!! About 3 minutes later, Danny walked in...he had found parking at the George Washington University parking garage (coincidentally the one we parked in when we went to see Tears for Fears last October!) which was only like 2 blocks away, if that!

So less than 5 minutes later...I met Erasure. You all knew that was coming...I shouldn't have made that my headline and kept you all in suspense!!! Hehe...but yeah. I totally geeked out and didn't know what to say and said something along the lines of "you guys are my favorite!" yeahhhhhh nice one Sarah. Anyway, they were very quiet, didn't say much, but they gladly signed my setlist from last night, one of their cds for my boss' husband, and one of their cds for my sister. Danny took a picture of them signing my stuff while I was standing there grinning my face off. hehe. Then, Danny got his stuff signed and then we had to walk away. Sniffle.

Shopped at Tower for a few minutes and bought the new Raveonettes album which is great! And then we went to guitar center and then back home.

So yeah....I met Erasure today:-D

Thanks to my wonderful boyfriend for making it all possible! *muah*
