adventurous wild things
So...Friday I went up to Augusta with `Manda and Shaunyce. Shaunyce was gonna see a movie with Megan, but me and Manda didn't want to see it, so we got dropped off to eat dinner, and Manda said "call me when the movie gets out." Anyway, at the end of our meal we go to tip the waiter, and Manda realizes she doesn't have her phone. So we walk to the movie theater (with a short stop at Claire's) and wait for their movie to get out. And when it does...they aren't there (they ended up seeing a different movie). So Manda and I, with no idea what Shaunyce's car looks like (other than "it's a van"), can't even check the parking lot for Shaunyce's car. So we decide to go to Michael's and try to use their phone to call Manda's cell phone to get Shaunyce's phone number to call Shaunyce. But Michael's is closed. So we try our ingenious plan at Barnes and Noble instead. But...Manda's phone turned itself off. So she calls her mom's phone. Her mom doesn't answer. So she calls her house phone. Once again...no answer. So we are stranded in Augusta.
Anyway, we take a bathroom break, and I finish peeing and realize I have no toilet paper, so I ask Manda for some, and in the process of getting it, Manda smacks her hand on the stall door (or something) and pretty much breaks her thumb. We exit Barnes and Noble and sit in front of it on the cold cement sidewalk and wait and hope Shaunyce finds us. We see some of the people a year behind us in school and they ask what we're doing and we tell them, but they end up going and doing their thing, and we end up seeing a van which, possibly, could have been Shaunyce's. So I walk to the end of the sidewalk to try and find the van in the movie theater parking lot, but it is nowhere to be seen. But we decide we should wait at the end of the sidewalk anyway, because we are more liekly to be seen.
But, being us, we get distracted by the big display of leather journals at the end of Barnes and Noble that we've never noticed before, and we end up going in to buy some so that in the new year we can keep journals and then swap them and read each other's at the end of the year. We then cause great hassle for the poor Barnes and Noble guy because we have him check the prices for our journals and I think maybe mine is too expensive, so I get a different one, and immediately after decide that I don't really care about the price, I actually really wanted that other one. So I end up having to return that one and buy the one I wanted in the first place.
Anyway, after that we go back to the movie theater parking lot and Manda shouts for Shaunyce and Megan a little, and then we head for Wal-mart, vaguely hoping to find them but mostly thinking we might be able to find epic pens for our epic journals (because Barnes and Noble had NONE D:) But on the way there Megan and Shaunyce find us, so we get in and park in the movie theater parking lot and talk about cats for about an hour, and then go home. Anyway, we were stranded in Augusta for, like, and hour and a half, two hours. And the best part was, earlier that week Manda had gotten a fortune cookie that said "This weekend you will have an adventure" and that could be nothing but an adventure.
Also, I went to see Where the Wild Things Are with my little sister yesterday after the combo Birthday party for my Uncle Mike, cousin Dan, cousin Kristen, and cousin Dawn. That movie was so awesome!!! I almost cried a bunch of times, though, and apparently Alicia did. But I love that movie!!!
