nesting phases

Today (yesterday), I found a really nifty hardware shop on Polk street -- next to which was an awesome supermarket that had asian sauces, snacks, noodle and soup packets and desserts. Needless to say, it made for an awesome adventure. I never thought I'd be thrilled to find a hardware store that sells toilet seats and dustbusters, but there you go.

It was probably the first day in a couple of days I felt alright being in San Francisco. I told my brothers yesterday that I felt a bit "Asia-sick", to which one of them said, "It's probably because everything here is so unstable, and everything there is." There are going to be things I'm always going to miss about being in Asia, maybe more so about being in the States, considering there are things from childhood I'm accustomed to. But it's also been almost 10 years since I've moved back to the States. And that part in itself is daunting. I know it feels ironic that the past couple days since coming home I've been trying to figure out other places I'd like to travel to, but maybe that's what it is being a third-culture kid. No home ever truly feels permanent, no matter how much you try to break it in.
