The joys of digital entertainment

Work is pretty insane lately. On top of our usual workload, which is rather heavy this time of year, we are working on the new web site. Juggling that, the annual report and all of the other projects will be very difficult. But I guess that's why my salary is much higher than the last job. It has been rather nice being treated with such respect at work. I've been consulted in every step of the web site revision and my comments have been taken seriously. It's a strange feeling being treated as an expert.

In the entertainment world, I've gotten into comics again thanks to the Runaways. Marvel collected the stories in manga-sized trades and I'm an addict. The characters are interesting and the stories have been told in a fascinating fashion. I'm really loving the teenagers rebelling against their parents by being super heroes concept.

In the video game realm, I'm playing Chocobo Dungeon for Wii which is extremely entertaining; on the PS2, I'm heavily into Fatal Fury Battle Archives 2: Real Bout. These are some of the best games SNK has ever done, I'm convinced. The DS has been shufling several games including FF Tactics A2, River King and Space Invaders Extreme. All three of these games are crack.

I picked up the final season of The Batman today. This is easily my favorite Batman animated series. I love that it starts with Batman as a new hero and follows him as he becomes the hero we know him to be. I like most of the redesigns on the villains, except for Mr. Freeze. In an interview with the creator, he said that Mr. Freeze was perfect in the 90s series so he didn't want to try to repeat that. I give him props for recognizing that. The Joker is perfectly insane and Harley is a great foil for him, but the best villain in the show is Catwoman. She wears the goggles, is incredibly cheeky and is totally flirty with Bruce. Perfect. On of the episodes in season 4 is told as a flashback from the year 3026. Archaeologists find the Batcave and are trying to decipher Batman's computer. In the flashback, Robin is now Nightwing; Batgirl is in a wheelchair and going by the codename Oracle; and Batman looks like Miller's Dark Knight version. When he gets out of is Batmobile, which looks like a tank, Mr. Freeze remarks, "The Dark Knight Returns." Fucking brilliant.

Capcom has announced that Mega Man 9 will come out later this year and revert back to the 8-bit graqphics. I'm pretty stoked so I created this in the Lego Digital Designer:

It'll cost $24.11 to buy it from Lego. I think I might.
