November 28, 2006: I show my advisor data from a very preliminary experiment that I suggested and that he told me not to get too excited about. He calls the data "fascinating" and "great." Granted, it's very preliminary and there's a lot of variation, but still--I came up with an experiment, based on papers that I had read but my advisor hadn't, to look at something that my advisor didn't think was going to be important and now, it just might be. In other words, I used my brain and it worked.
