Let the Games Begin!

Okay, I've done my part to throw the bums out. Now comes the really fun part when the lawyers get involved. Let's see, there's the hundred yard dash for the people that are challenging voters' registrations, the high jump to the appeals court and -- for the finalists -- to the Supreme Court, and don't forget the upcoming iron man competition in which we must all participate, even if only by watching.

Yeah, I'm making light of it. It's another one of those things where you either laugh or cry. While I can laugh I will, but if things don't change there will be no choice and we will all cry. Our democratic process has been hijacked far more effectively than all the Arab extremists could have ever hoped to. We the People no longer choose our leaders. I recently heard a quote attributed to Stalin, "The people who cast the votes decide nothing. The people who count the votes decide everything." This is a lesson that the Bush people have learned well, and implemented well four years ago. And in the four years since, both parties have adopted this stance. I hope that the Dems have learned it only in self-defense and after the current crop of neo-cons is out (voted out, impeached or impaled, take your pick) they will return to business as usual, corrupt though that was. A lesson such as this, however, once learned is not easily forgotten and it may be that this is the way it will be until voting is eliminated or we have another American War for Independence.

So, I repeat, Let the Games Begin.
