Some guy told me to go to the high school, because they have free meat. So I go over...[long, indignant pause]...and it's already GONE.

[mutter] I'm never going to get it. Dammit.

There is. As you mentioned work, it depends on what kind of work you're capable of as to whether it's here or not. The city doesn't have many established jobs.

The cafeteria isn't, as far as I know, worked at on all days. If there's no meat freely available at any given time, you'll either have to trade for it, find some yourself, or wait.
