Weekend Update
Got a later start then we planned on Friday... got to the bhotel around 10. Got checked in and ran across the street to Bopjangles to grab some dinner and take it back to the room. Ummm... what do you mean you are out of chicken? Eleven minutes before you can give us dark meat and no ETA on white meat? Look there's a KFC down the road!
Back to the hotel room where dinner was consumed and the BF commended sewing while I bottled the cordial. "Have you seen the blue linnen?' he asks... scanning scanning - I can visualize it nicely folded on the couch back home but no memopry of putting it into the vehicle. Mad dash downstairs and nope, its not in the car. As we wonder back to the room I contemplate 2.5 hours back home, an hour nap, 2.5 hours back to Charlotte - be back around 5am... yeah I can do it while he stays here and sews other stuff. Wait! He cut out the sleeves and only brought those leaving the rest of the linnen back home and here it is. Phew!!
Decission reached - my Coat will not get done as I can wear the garb lady_guenievre made me several years ago (in fact, the last time we used this site...).
I fall asleep. Feel him cuddle up against me saying "Im gonna sleep for half an hour." Two hours later we both sit up. Run downstairs and grab cofee and back to the room. I get taught how to do button holes as he charges ahead. I look at the clock and run over to site to get us checked in beofre they resell our feast spaces.* Phew! Made it. And elizabethnmafia even got us signed up for a feast table. Sorry baronalejandro for snapping at you - was feeling rather stressed. Head back to the hotel, making a pass by Arby's to get some lunch.
Garb done - woo hoo! Arrive at site around 3. Plenty of time to mill and walk the merchants. Didnt have as much time to hunt people down and hang out buit its ok, cause BF - SCA name is Lukas BTW... looks great. Dont believe me - check out the picture which elizabethnmafia took.
Missed Kissaya's vigil, but got to talk to her very briefly while waiting for her to be called into Court. Lots of Woo Hoos! for lots of friends - If Rags is right that monarch;'s are remembered for the peers etc. they make, then this will be remembered as a momentous reign in the history of Atlantia.
Feats was OMFG!!! good. Wish they had put a menu on the table so I could have paced myself better.
Back to the hotel and hanging out with TE's, lady_guenievre & soucyn. Up the next morning and out to breakfast with lady_guenievre & soucyn at Shoney's. Was suprised we only ran into Kiri there - I recall the days where the Shoney's nearest to site was over run with SCAdians on Sunday AM. Times change.
On the road and stopped at High Point to browse furniture. Saw some nice things including some amazing Persian rugs but surprisingly little I would actually want in my own home.
Then off to Replacements, Ltd. where they dont even have my pattern in their database. I didn't know that was possible. Took the tour which was quite amazing really - they have a f-load of different china, flatware, silver, crystal, etc. and you cannot begin to appreciate it until you walk through the warehouses. And we got to pet a puppy - they are amazingly pet friendly.
A few more miles down the road & stopped for dinner. Outback had a 45 minute wait, so we went to Crazy Fire. Yum tasty. Then off to home where the car was unloaded and three episodes of Rome season 1 were watched and I gain a new quote: There you're wrong. Graveyards are full of middling swordsmen. Better to be noswordsman at all than a middling swordsman.
Not a bad way to spend the eleven month anniversary. BTW, since Anniversay by definition implies an anum or year, what is the proper term for a month anniversary?
* I despise this practice and believe it should only be allowed if it says that feast spaces will be resold in the officially published event flier with a time by which you need to check in and a phone number to call in case you are delayed and cannot arrive on site prior to that time. And then, the money should automatically be refunded without even asking for it. Just my not so humble personal opinion. Plenty more where that one came from...
