So, well, the question hung in the air: what is happening in Ukraine? Strange things are happening in this state. But let's start with the A's.
The first oddity is that the opponent of European integration since 2004, and now the president, “due to the circumstances,” Yanukovich suddenly inflamed with the desire to implement this very integration in practice. And this is against the background of sluggish actions of worthless opposition, steeped in squabbles, while its true leader* continues serving out her sentence in the colony. Yanukovich took into his own hands a banner that had hitherto belonged to the opposition, and thus put the last into a stupor.
Viktor Fyodorovich** has always demonstrated exemplary diligence towards his superiors, so you should not attribute to him the ideas that he is now implementing. They are completely on the conscience of his Moscow boss and part-time “gatherer of the Russian lands” Mr. Putin.
Vladimir Vladimirovich has long been haunted by this 'intolerable' Ukraine. After all, it seems that he has already done everything: put the faithful and controlled Yanukovich “on the presidency,” tightly tied up with gas all sorts of the Firtashs, the Akhmetovs and other oligarchs from the “power beau-monde” of Ukraine, but failed to do the main thing. We are talking about the military presence of Russia in Ukraine. The first attempt in 2004 failed miserably, as did all the subsequent ones.
Vladimir Vladimirovich, do not be discouraged. Obama, like his predecessor Bush Jr., has the same problems. That's only that his intentions are cooler than yours. He had designs on unleashing the Third World War but failed. The problem remained all the same: the US military units' ground invasion of Libya, and now Syria did not take place due to the complete loss of their combat capability and control at the moment of landing on the enemy's territory. The worst thing was that for some unknown reason, their military personnel turned into "submissive sheep" at each such attempt, thereby discrediting the title of a warrior. And this happened with the elite special forces units, which by definition are considered "killing machines."
The proof of this was the rout of bandits at the US consulate in Benghazi and the killing of the US ambassador to Libya and his four guards who were there. In fact, the responsibility for perimeter security of this diplomatic residence, contrary to the widespread practice, was imposed on local police. I remember that the Americans were always proud that their diplomatic missions around the world were guarded by the marines, an elite special forces of the Navy, but for some reason, they weren't in the Libyan city of Benghazi.
Well, God bless them, the Americans. In 2004, the Russian special forces were also not in the best position in Ukraine.
Obama appreciated your "Syrian peace initiatives" as a gesture of relief, although in other circumstances he would have ignored it. At least, he had a chance to adequately get out of the delicate situation in which he found himself due to the hasty announcement of the intention to begin military operations against Syria.
But revenons à nos moutons. If it isn't possible to carry out military intervention in this 'stubborn' Ukraine, then why not try other options for possible actions to tame it?
As one of the options, the possibility of repealing the provisions of the Ribbentrop-Molotov Pact was considered. The essence of the issue is as follows: Russia, as the successor to the USSR, has the right to sign an agreement with Poland to denounce the provisions of this pact, which, in turn, would allow the latter to present territorial claims to Ukraine regarding a number of its areas that were part of Poland at the time of signing this document.
In fact, Ukraine had to return to the borders of 1939, which wholly fit in with Russia's plans, since Western Ukraine would be transferred to Poland, and Eastern Ukraine would be under Russian protectorate. Putin’s plan failed at the very last moment when in April 2010 a plane with Polish officials flying at his invitation to sign a new treaty crashed near Smolensk***.
As we see, Vladimir Vladimirovich did not calm down and decided to do the same now, but this time by dividing Ukraine from the inside with the help of the fifth column. This explains the 'activity' of Yanukovich in the issue of European integration. With great fanfare, he had to bring the negotiation process with Brussels until the signing of the Association Agreement with the EU, and then drastically change his position, turning the main vector of Ukrainian geopolitics towards Russia. Such an action, according to Putin, was supposed to provoke a confrontation in Ukrainian society and polarize it, dividing it into two irreconcilable parts, as it happened in 2004. What we all saw the other day was the 'realization' of this plan.
The opposition, seeing no trick in Yanukovich’s actions (or pretending not to see), stupidly bought into his insinuations, which cannot be said about the people of Ukraine. Attempts to force events by the authorities are quite obvious. Who could believe in the sincerity of the European integration intentions of 'regional'**** Yanukovich? Only the blissful one... :)) He remained faithful to his criminal vocation: "to hit patsies up for money."
The 'activity' of the Poles in this matter is not surprising. They are still raving about the return of the Ukrainian lands, as well as their 'accomplice' Putin.
The Ukrainian nationalists also 'fit' in the development of events at the right time. The "Rabbit Senia's"***** jaw dropped when a Bandera banner****** rose up next to the flag of "European integration" on the Maidan. The provocation is in full accordance with Putin’s plans for dividing Ukrainian society and organizing civil war. Everything fell into place. The people of Ukraine personally saw their 'heroes.'
Gentlemen, do you want to have problems because of this? So you already have them! You can be sure that the events of the 'Arab Spring' type in Ukraine and Russia are only a matter of time. The people will 'abolish' the current power 'quietly,' without bloodshed and losses. But let this moment be a 'pleasant' surprise for you...

*** As it was said: "At one time, the Creator "dropped" the plane with the authorized signers from Poland, who flew to Smolensk <...> to sign a comprehensive treaty between Poland and Russia called to denounce the Ribbentrop-Molotov Pact and return the borders to their condition until September 17, 1939."
