I have so much to write about. The past two weeks have been crazy. First off, my sister Vivian’s wedding. What an amazing perfect day! It all happened so fast. Wow my sister is finally married! Walking down the isle with my partner whose name oddly enough was Nick, was the least comforting moment… people watching me…I hate it. But when it came for my sister’s turn, I had tears running down my cheek. She looked so radiant with her veil and beautiful white dress! Telly (the groom) glanced at her for a moment, but had to turn around quickly-he had tears running down, and I could see he was trying to fight them back. His brother whispering comfort in his ear, and upon my mom and dad giving their daughter away for the first and last time…I couldn’t help but start crying …I was so mad for letting myself go like that. But I knew it would be the first tears of many throughout the day.
My feet were killing me halfway through the ceremony. As I kept shifting my bodyweight from one side to the other to find some kind of comfort, I realized that the priest has just declared my sister and her fiancé, husband and wife as they walked around the table for the first time (an old Greek tradition) . Rice was being passed around, but when I saw the amount of rice that was put in each bag… I felt bad for Vivian…she sure was getting a beating from everyone. Hopefully the pictures turn out nice!
As we made our entrance outside of the church, we saw what would be our limo bus to take us to Edwards Garden. To describe it would be an understatement. …Old retro 70’s TTC bus. No air conditioning, just a fan with a bottle of Champaign and us listening to 50-cent music…a most interesting ride.
After the picture taking at Edwards Garden, we went to the hall “Le Parc”. I went inside to see how it looked…it was the most stunning hall I have ever seen. Ones that you would see on Oprah and Us magazine showcasing celebrities wedding. The centerpieces were filled with a bouquets of pink and white roses mixed with hydrangeas, lily’s and green leafs to balance it , and at the bottom were lit candles on top of a mirror to give a beautiful reflection of it all. Sigh! J
As the night progressed, so did the drinking, the amazing food and the speeches. First off was the best man, Ted (groom’s brother) short but sweet. Then it was my older sisters Glenda’s turn. I already had the chance to read it. She told a story about Vivian and herself when we lived in Greece. Stories at weddings are usually reciprocated well, and it was true in this case. Everyone stood up and started cheering and clapping. It was an amazing response. Then it was my sister Vivian’s turn…she thanked the people that needed to be thanked, and then she started to mention me, Maria and Glenda. She starts crying and then we all start crying. You see my three sisters and I have been through a lot. We have lived together for the most part of our lives and have shared every little to big secret with each other. Sure we fought a lot, but we always loved and still love each other. So when Vivian, started mentioning about how she will miss us, and that she isn’t leaving us…and our clothes (lol) I had tears running down my face, and then Bill one of the groomsmen gave me a tissue and hugged me (bonus). On a side note, Bill is one of Telly’s good friends. He is the nicest, most sincere guy I have ever met. Really took a liking to him at the wedding. Anyway…after breaking my tears away, it was off to the dance floor for some Greek dancing. Greek dancing has some great dramatic moments. Everyone is practically acting, coming up with the best dance moves, flips and turns …it was an echo of Opa! throughout the dance floor!! So I guess, this long post should come to a close…I am at work after all…the biggest anticipation for the summer has ended…and now its time to look forward to others…
