It was one year and eleven days ago that I first stepped off the plane at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. I remember that weekend well. I remember only a few days later, as I sat in the terminal, waiting for my flight that would take me away from a place that I had so quickly come to love. I almost didn't leave. I decided, however, that I needed to make sure I got into school out here, so that I had a more secure future in the great land of the pacific northwest. Six months later, after lots of hard work and a seven day trip from Milwaukee, to Rochester, back to Milwaukee, and then out to Seattle, WA, I arrived in the place I had almost not left.
It has been a good year so far since I arrived on March 8th. The rain hasn't bothered me. In fact, at night, the rain makes the city shine in ways I could never have imagined. The landscape here is full of stunning scenery. The people are nice. The city is safe, as far as cities go, and the furry community is unbelievably massive. I proudly call Seattle my home. I haven't really been able to call a place home in more than a decade, and the only time I have yet been homesick has been when I have left seattle.

Rainfurrest 2010 was a new experience for me, as far as furry conventions. I did a lot of volunteer work to aid the convention, got to work with the con-staff, and in general, I had an amazing time. Thursday was a long wind-up day leading to the convention, lots of set-up to do. Overall, I loved the con. I spent a good bit of time in suit, running around, and I also got to pie Bobby in the face, which was pretty fun to do.
The dances were much better than last year, at least for what I experienced. The lighting was great and the music was much better.
Everything else was great fun too. I met new people, made friends, and partied long into the night every night.
It reminded me of how much Furcons are like addictive hallucinogenic drugs. You enter the con, and suddenly, it's like someone has slipped you a drug. You see walking (and sometimes talking) animals all over the place, and all your troubles in life seem to fade away. The whole weekend runs like this big blur of awesome, sometimes, you end up surrounded by loud music, flashing, colored light, and animals, of course, and it's all over too soon. Then you leave, and you hit the pits. (Yay PCD) All you want to do is to go back. The nice thing is though... cons don't really get old, as long as you find a way to make them fun especially. For me, they just keep getting better.
