Alec Baldwin will be the new cohost of "The Essentials" on TCM beginning in March. Robert Osborne is always there, but the other seat changes every so often. It makes for a nice change in perspective; I'm just not sure I would have expected Alec Baldwin. You should probably counter that with "No one expects Alec Baldwin!" (just as no one expects the Spanish Inquisition). Then again, I had my doubts about Rose McGowan, who was the most recent cohost, and she did all right. I think the trick in these types of cohosting deals is showing that you have a real love of classic movies and enough knowledge to express what you like and why without coming off as pompous or a poser. In general TCM does pretty well about that, though I've seen some people whose comments made me roll my eyes at how forced and rehearsed they sounded.

TCM is currently in the middle of their "31 Days of Oscar" event. They do it every year for the month of February plus two or three days in March (depending on if it's a leap year, of course). I love TCM all the time, but there's no denying this is a particularly good month of movies. :)

And now back to grading and reading and whatnot. Lots of whatnot.
