Okay.
I'm not easily peeved, or annoyed. When I see a video I can usually avoid having a visceral reaction to it. But now and then one will actually surprise me:
It's 2:30am, The Colbert Report re-air is going off, and Tosh.0 has just come on Comedy Central. For those unaware, think of it as a television show made out of some dude's Youtube favorites list and hosted by some 20-something failed comedian stoner. The opening of the show always has some video that makes you laugh or go 'oof' or whatnot. Shock or Youtube stupidity of someone injuring themselves, usually accompanied by a dick joke from the host.
This opener video was some party of sorts...couldn't tell enough to know where it was. Just a bunch of white folks in a lawn party at night recorded on a camera phone. One guy's got a pistol and showing it off while drinking (gun rally party I guess?) And the camera pans around. When it returns, he's given his pistol to a 5 or 6 year old kid that was beside him. The kid, enamored with the gun he was given, waves it over his head like an airplane. It dips, points into the guy's abdomen, and he pulls the trigger.
It was a loaded pistol. There was a flash, and the guy doubles over. The kid reels from shock and the gun's recoil. The captive audience for the show (which you could hear murmuring in concern when they first saw the kid with a sidearm) suddenly exclaimed when that happened. The clip cut off barely a second after the discharge and the show's title started.
...Like said, not easily peeved. But seeing that bullshit I couldn't hold in a 'Oh come the fuck on!' That was tastelessness beyond tasteless and, even for me, crossing a line for the sake of a cheap laugh. Oh good for you, Tosh.0; you proved you're edgy and shocking by showing a total idiot getting shot and possibly fatally wounded by a 6 year old with the expectation of viewers to point and laugh about it. Not since "Cheaters" have I ever been so entertained...
I have never really watched the show. I think that made my mind up not to.
