Tonight’s plan included taking a long shower, getting into comfy pajamas, watching extreme amounts of the OC, and then an early bedtime… my reward after a brutal week of living in the library. Shower check, pajamas check, relaxation check, OC oooh yes check check check… however, just as I was crawling into bed, the massive heap of laundry that was overflowing in my corner caught my eye. Normally, I could easily let this slide… but my family is coming up to celebrate Easter tomorrow, and I figured I should have crisp clean clothes to wear so I can look snazzy in my pastels so I caved. And alas, I was faced with the predicament of what to do to kill time… and the winner ladies and gentleman, is a genuine update of the good ol’ livejournal. Raise your hands in excitement!
This semester has been going very well… I can’t believe we only have a little over a month left here. A little over a month until half of college is over with. I think my subconscious is a bit in denial over that. They better be right when they say that the most interesting people are the ones that don’t know what they want to do with their lives… otherwise, I’m screwed. On that note, I’ve recently decided to become pre-law (as well as keeping the bcs and psych majors). That will mean taking classes at SU this summer, but it could be well worth it. I’ll also be volunteering at the hospital (Upstate) most likely because I don’t think these internship deals are going to pan out. And to finish off the equation for a simply fabulous summer, I’m looking to get a waitressing job if I can’t find anything better… because while this whole discovering my life’s meaning thing here at school is incredible, I have the impending threat of paying off loans in my future and that requires moola.
But on to more juicy material. I was picked as a D’Lion (assistant RA type deal for the incoming freshmen) for next year and I sealed this fate with a contract last Friday. So, I’ll be returning to the mothership Sue B. (the home to all freshmen) next term. For the most part, I am extremely excited about this. Not only do I get to flaunt my pep and enthusiasm to the freshies, but I get a single. A SINGLE! The amount of joy this brings me is on a level comparable to that of a cheesy gordita crunch with beans instead of meat. Yes, that delicious. However, there is a flaw in this perfect system. A real glitch in the life circuit. One of my best friends here, a one Miss Lizziford Natale, is very upset that I will not be living in a suite with her and others instead. While I too am dismayed that I will be leaving the homies to kick it with the freshmen, I am more dismayed to be lacking the other half of the tag team. But, this position isn’t open to seniors and I know it’s something I really want to do so it’s now or never… and one can only dream that the team will tag once more in due time.
After all… friends come in all sizes.
All else is well. Classes are going swimmingly. There was an attempted massacre last week as I was shot with three exams in 4 days… but the wounds were minor and I’ve been recovering. I went out to dinner last night with Jurgs. I can never get enough of that boy… even if I see him every single day… I like that. Anyway, we were supposed to hit up the Atomic Eggplant (INCREDIBLE vegetarian food), but they’re closed until further notice… um, que? So we ended up at Aladdin’s, which was still fabulous even in the light of the disappointment from our first attempt, especially when you throw in chocolate peanut butter cake. That’s just… a sin to deny. After that, I saw Fight Club for the first time. Good movie, little rough around the edges, but good. And then I slept SO soundly. It was one of those extremely deep slumbers that when you awake… you’re just refreshed. Simply and plainly, refreshed. That feeling is a treasure. Then I went to brunch this morning with Aaron and Arelys (AMR squared) and then to the mall with Jurgso. The mall where all my hopes of finding a messenger bag were shattered in light of the most bizarre experience at the Men’s Warehouse… which was shortly rectified with an overabundance of Taco Bell. A pretty fair deal if you ask me. And that brings me to now - my quiet night in… muchly needed… muchly deserved.
Tomorrow looks to be working at the activities office in the morning, lunch and Easter adventures with the family, dying eggs and going to see Robots with Jurgs, and at some point assisting the growing mass of BCS kids who are desperate for help studying for their exam. Swell. Easter’s a happy holiday. Not so much for the large rabbit figures or the glossy colored grass… but because it’s a sure indication that spring is on it’s way (and I’m a sucker for flowers.)
And with that said, it’s time to pass out.
Oakley (my bunny) sends her regards.
