Had Another Yomiko Moment...

So I went out to lunch with my grandma today to a local restaurant owned by some friends of my family. While chatting with some of the employees, also friends of the fam, one of them mentioned that the local library was having a book sale. So of course, grandma and I had to go check it out!

What a freaking goldmine. I found books that are still full price at the store for $2-3! Picked up the latest Nicholas Sparks and Nora Roberts books for my mom and another 5 or 6 for me, could not stop myself from squealing every time I found something particularly good. Ended up educating the volunteer working the sale on what exactly a trade paperback book was... Grandma, bless her heart, reacts to perusing books the same way she reacts when we go wine tasting: she double checks with me before making final decisions and purchases. As we were perusing, she sighed and stated, "I never know what to look for... I don't really know many of these authors." I replied, "Well, sometimes, you just have to turn the book over, look at the description and make a leap of faith to see if something will grab you!" She looked at me blankly and said, "No I don't, that's what you're here for." I couldn't really deny that, so I recommended a book to her and she was pleased.

In other news, the undercarriage of my car is now being vastly supported by wire. One of the other keen things about living in Erie, aside from the horrid winter conditions (it's gonna be a cold one, folks) is that all the salt and other materials they put on the roads to keep them kinda-sorta drivable absolutely eat away at your car... My exhaust pipe became dislodged from where it is supposed to rest, pressed up against the underside of my trunk, so my grandpa secured it back into place using wire. Before he did that, it was bouncing around when I went over hills and bumps.

*sigh* Another thing to add to the list regarding the next vehicle I purchase (which won't be far in the future at this rate): 4 wheel drive, heated seats, non-lowrider vehicle.
