In his hand was a picture. The picture was folded and not in the best of conditions but it still did its job. His heart ached whenever he looked at it. Whenever he showed it to people with hopes of finding where the person in the picture was...well then he'd then feel the crush of great disappointment whenever his leads turned out to be nothing. But he continued his search and found himself in many strange places. Like today he was at a circus.

Cook couldn’t believe his eyes. The sights and smells that greeted him were almost overwhelming. Not to mention the crowd that filled the grounds. All of them talking and meandering as they stopped at different tents for different attractions. Like lions behind cages and elephants right across from them trumpeting in time with their roars. A man was holding a puppet show while another tent was illuminated by fire being blown on the floor. And was that a band playing mariachi music?

It was just so busy and Cook couldn’t take just one thing in.

He noticed that the majority of the crowd was heading into the larger tent in the center. From what he could make out from the signs it was showing the main attraction. He followed the crowd and again felt his chest flutter with hope. He grudgingly took a seat in one of the back rows. It wasn’t the best view for performances on the main floor but then the acrobats took their turn.

Cook’s eyes watched as people practically flew through the air while performing tricks he couldn’t dream of trying. Then he saw him.

He was in make-up like the other performers but there was no mistaking it. The body and the hair. It was him! Cook stood from his seat and just watched, not caring at all of the people behind him, because he finally found him.
