Title: Care Taken
Pairing/Characters: Casey Abrams and Scotty McCreery
Rating: G
Summary: What a sucky, sucky weekend, Casey mused. He had been hoping to hang out with Scotty since, the North Carolina native would be staying in California for a short time. He wanted to take his friend out on the town and enjoy the visit. Getting sick really put a damper on those plans though.
Disclaimer: Don't own these fine young gentlemen. Nope.
Notes: Uhhh...there's really no substance to this, it's just whatever. Very derpy like everything else I write. Any grammatical errors and other mistakes are just me doing what I do best. Butchering the English language.
Casey was the cheerful sort. He liked to smile and laugh, all while having a good time with others. He did his best to not be too sad or upset about things. It was almost admirable as he tried to keep his upbeat attitude while being sick. It didn’t really work however.
He had caught a bug two days ago and was left bedridden. Chills and aches plagued his body at the start so he took comfort in sleep. After that passed, he found that he couldn’t keep anything down for too long. The very sight of anything aside from saltine crackers or water was unwelcomed and caused his stomach to uproar in protest.

“I brought you some crackers and sprite,” Scotty’s soft voice announced at the side of his bed.
Sprite was a nice change from water, Casey supposed.
“Thanks dude.” He sat up a little and Scotty handed him the plate of crackers. “You wouldn’t happen to have any jam or peanut butter to go along with this would you?”
Scotty shook his head. “Y’know I would love get you some but I think it’s better to be safe than sorry.”
“Yeah, I guess you’re right,” he murmured before nibbling tentatively on a cracker.
The younger man simply nodded as he watched him slowly consume his bland meal. After five crackers Casey set his plate aside and drank some of his soda. “Ahh that’s refreshing.”
“I thought you’d like that.” Scotty smiled.
“Thank you.”
“Hey, it’s no problem. You’d do the same for me.”
“Seriously, you’ve been super,” Casey said smiling. “Even though you were supposed to have fun while you were here, not waste your time taking care of me.”
The younger man rolled his eyes. “I’m not wasting time, Casey,” he rested his hand on his knee. “Don’t worry about any of that. Just occupy yourself with gettin’ better, alright?”
“Alright.”
“Good.”

It wasn’t long before he could start stomaching food that wasn’t saltine crackers. He’d call for a celebratory Twinkie but it was probably too soon for his recovering tummy. Scotty would probably snag the little cake from him anyway.
But don’t think I won’t eat you, you hostess treat, he vowed internally.
Instead, he was finally out of bed and eating a bowl of instant ramen on his couch. Scotty sat next to him as they watched some TV movie together.
“I’ll have to be heading out soon,” Scotty said as a commercial came on.
Casey sighed. Time really went by fast when you were sick. Well he was sure time would have gone by quickly without him being sick. He didn’t seem to get enough of Scotty’s company and he was sad to know he would be going home so soon. “I wish we could’ve done more fun stuff, instead you were stuck at home with me.”
“Well, nothing wrong bein’ with you. I wasn’t happy to see you sick but I’m not upset with having to take care of you.”
The bass player almost scoffed. “You’re just too nice dude.”
“You’re my friend, Case,” the country singer said simply. “I know you had your plans but there’s always a next time.”
Casey nodded. This was true, it wasn’t the end of the world. He would see Scotty again and hopefully he wouldn’t be sick again. “Yeah. Next time I’ll take you to a baseball game alright?”
Scotty grinned. “Sounds like a plan.”
--
Almost a month later Casey bit into a Twinkie as looked on to buy two baseball game tickets. He paused however when he received a text from Scotty. His friend apologized, telling him he would be too sick to make it for his usual trip to California. Buying the game tickets was quickly discarded.

Scotty moaned as he curled up in his bed. His mother had come by earlier to look after him but had to leave promising she’d return soon.
“Nn…hate this,” he croaked and pulled his duvet up to his chin before turning to his side.
“I know it isn’t fun but don’t worry, you’ll feel better in no time,” a cheery voice told him.
Scotty turned back to his other side and stared. “C-Casey, what, what’re you doin’ here?”
Casey wore a soft smile. “You told me I’d do the same for you so rest, Scotty. Don’t worry, I’m right here.”
Blinking blearily Scotty nodded before closing his eyes. A slight smile on his face knowing he was going to be cared for. “Thank you.”
“Shh…sleep.”
