"You really made some?" he asked, feeling rather cheerful now that he had something pretty to look at, someone sweet to talk to, and very soon something good to eat.
Nicole nodded, pulling out two cans of frosting and a few different containers of sprinkles. She had rainbow, chocolate, little stars, and assorted colored sugar that was almost like sugar.
"It's really simple. Watch me do one," she told him, leading him over to the counter.
Nikki opened a can of frosting, dipped a butter knife in, and pulled it out full of frosting. She slowly matted it on top of one of the cupcakes, keeping the frosting flowing in one direction.
"Simple, right?" Nikki said, evening out the frosting all over.
It looked simple enough, and so Harry was determined that he could manage one on his own without any further demonstration.
Taking up a butter knife, he dipped it into the can just as Nikki had done and then made his first attempt at smoothing it along the top of the cupcake. It was a complete failure, mostly because the frosting didn't stick as well as he wanted to at first, and when he applied more pressure, the knife nearly scratched the surface of the cake.
"Erm...how did you- this...this isn't as easy as it looked," he admitted finally, frowning a little at the cupcake.
"Here..." she said, taking his hands, one to hold the cup cake and the other to guide the knife. Nikki began to frost it, going slowly so he could get the hang of it.
You're really too cute for your own good sometimes, you do know that, right? ;)
But I'll be over as soon as you want me.
Thanks,
Harry

He had long since stopped asking the Weasleys if he could go somewhere. He'd received a few lectures about it, but nothing he couldn't deal with.
"Nikki?" he asked, shuffling out of the fireplace as he looked around for the girl.

"Someone's happy to see me," he laughed.

"How was your birthday?"

Tilting his head at her, he gave a rather charming grin. "Are you planning on making it even better? Today could still count as part of it, you know."

"Once we frost the cupcakes, we can eat them."

"Do you have sprinkles too?"

"Take your pick!"

"I want rainbow," he answered decidedly.

"Rainbow it is, then!"

"Are you going to teach me?"
