Nikki was trying to keep her usual high spirits up. That was what people expected from her, after all and nobody wanted a sour queen. Deep down, Nicole really wanted to win this too. It would be her way of showing that she was something and not just the family reject

"Seriously, you don't need to get frustrated and start yelling at posters to prove you deserve to be Queen or anything else for that matter." Walking up beside her Angie linked her arm with Nikki's. They weren' really close, but it was still a friendly gesture from a competator.
"Do something that only you would do. Make people notice you, but not through posters of sleezy posses. Even if they notice you through passively ignoring this crap." Angie glanced at another that wasn't quite as pleasantly covered as some of the others.
"Be you. Because when it's all over and you're wearing that crown or not wearing it, you walk off that stage or dance floor with just a piece of plastic or whatever it is-and yourself. Thats it. Just that crappy symbol of a stupid vote, and you." Letting go of Nikki's arm Angie touched her chin, pindering a poster of Allie before them.
"You know, if she really needs these posters to beat us-I know for me thats flattering. Hell, she could use all the help she can get."

"I mean, people like me, right? I throw parties and I don't make people mad," she said, in her whispy voice.
Most of the time Nicole was just there. She was stood around and took in the world around her, making it fun when she could and holding back when she had to. Allie was the one people were always jealous of.
"I didn't even know she took these shots..." she said, looking back at the posters.

Not because of the rumours.
Just something about Allie made Angie ashamed and dissappointed for her.
"The secrets people keep. Personally, I think she'd be perfect to be the Queen." Angie noted look a little harder at the poster. "She appears as superficial as the role, as temporary and as easily forgotten."
It had been a while since Angie had lashed out so harshly. Strangely it wasn't her competitive spirit.
"But that was cold. I guess, she just suits the kind of popular, simple face I'd expect to see wearing a plastic crown." With a shake of her head Angie looked at Nikki.
"Sorry, probably went on a bit too much."

"But I think the crown should go to somebody nobody ever notices."
Somebody like me...or Angie. She'd make a good queen.
"It shouldn't be all about looks."

"But I don't think I want to worry about it this much. It's just a crown.Next year it won't mean a damn thing."

But to Nikki it was more than that. To her, it was about finding her way and having people finally noticing her.

"You don't need a crown to be seen."

"It's just hard the realize...always being with Allie and all."

'You can hang out with other people you know."

Nikki was pretty much a social butterfly.
"I just really love Allie like a sister."
Reply
"You love her like a sister, you hate her like a sister. You get frustrated and think it's unfair, like a sister would. It goes both ways."
Reply
"I've never had a sister. Just a brother...and he's usually a big prat."
