Nikki,
Darling! Happy Easter. The entire family has gathered today, as usual, to celebrate. But it is hardly the same without you, dear. I'm so thankful that next year you'll be able to be here, just like Chris. We all wish you the best and so does Tara (her name is Tara...I don't care what she wants me to call her. I'll call her by her name!).
And please, don't you worry about what your grandfather says. You will have your graduation party. You can count on it!
Love,
Mum.
Nicole smiled at the letter. Her mum always put her in higher spirits, unlike the rest of her family. But, Nikki did love her entire family. They were just in shock about her current housing conditions. Maybe it took them eight years to get over something like that.
Attached to the letter was a bag of jelly beans and easter candy. The type Nikki used to shove into her mouth as a child. This just added to her good mood.
"Perfect!" she exclaimed, trying to unwrap a chocolate as she walked. But she wasn't looking where she was going, and before Nikki knew it, she was looking right at the ceiling.
"Ouch..." Nikki whinned, which didn't really sound like a whine coming from her mouth, from her spot on the floor.
