Nikki stared straight at her ceiling. It was pink with bright orange flowers. She had painted it that way in her second year with Allie and it came out so cute that the girl didn't have the heart to ever paint over it. Though, it still reflected her personality. "Tessa, love," Tara said, walking in and taking a seat on Nikki's bed.

She smiled wide at the younger girl and weaved her fingers through her raven black hair.

"Oh right..." Nikki said, almost rolling her eyes.

She still didn't understand why she insisted on that stupid nickname, why her brother was dating her, or why she thought Nikki liked having her around.

"What's up?"

Tara looked blissfully ignorant of Nikki's true feelings. She just smiled bright and went on.

"So, Chris was telling me that you're in your seventh year of Hogwarts! Isn't it just too great!" Tara squeeled, not phrasing it like a question.

"But anyway! I thought you'd totally want this because it was mine when I was there..."

She handed Nikki a gold Ravenclaw pendent.

Slowly Nikki took the pendent, chewing her bottom lip. Of course. This was the same Tara Chris graduated with. They had very close and now they were back together.

"I um...Tara. I mean Tessa...I can't take this," she said, sadness in her voice. "I'm a Hufflepuff."

"But you're a Carsini!" Tara exclaimed loudly, which only made Nikki feel worse.

Being Chris's girlfriend, she knew the family history. Ten generations of Carsini had all been Ravenclaws. Even her mother's side had been Ravenclaws. The whole family was full of Ravenclaws.

Nicole got up and faced the window. She could see everything from her attic windows. It had a grew view of both sides of the house, depending which window the person was looking out of.

"I guess he forgot to tell you that I'm the family reject, alright?" Nikki snapped, suddenly.

Nicole's sudden emotional outbreak startled Tara. She closed her hand around the pendent quickly and stood up. Unsure of what else to do, she apologized and retreated from the room.

How...sad... she thought, knowing Nikki was usually a happy girl.

When Tara left the room, Nikki walked over and slammed her door shut. She then fell onto her bed and began to cry into her pillow. Hard sobs and heaves left her.

Chris was so ashamed of her that he didn't even tell his own girlfriend that his sister was a Hufflepuff. But Nikki still didn't know why it was such a big deal. She was loyal and a good person. When she really tried, Nikki was able to understand the lessons. Learning wasn't all there was to life, she reasoned.

But she felt so embarrised. What did Tara think of her now? Maybe she thought she was a stupid blonde. The bimbo everybody else thought she was.

"That's all I am!" Nikki sobbed. "The bimbo family reject."
