It is bad when going to work on Monday feels like more of a vacation than the weekend. I woke up Saturday Morning at 9:00 a.m. got ready and went over to visit my older sister and my two nephews who live in Menomonie, WI. My nephews are very cute, but I learned this weekend I am glad not to have kids of my own. As an autie I get spoil and indulge them in little things like the pair of "fire fighter" boots my oldest nephew (2 1/2) wanted so badly, but the nicest thing was to be able to go home afterwards, you see there was not much nap time on Saturday and so by 6:30/7:00 both of my nephews were rather tired and it was showing. Also, my youngest nephew (3 mos.) has GI issues so as my sister was trying to make dinner he was crying on and off and fussing for almost an hour. My sister is like SuperMom....she has 2 kids, made stir fry and baked and apple pie from scratch and was wanting to make zucchini bread before I left as well.....whew, I am lucky if I actually bake once a month, let a lone do it with two children and making dinner. So, after dinner and dessert she and my nephews headed upstairs to get get ready for bed and I headed back to the cities where I hung out with
wonderwoman624 and her two little ones. We chatted and watched Nick at Night, which is now playing stuff I watched growing up....how scarey I am getting sooo old ;) I got home a little later than I had realized and went to sleep since I realized just how early the alarm clock was set for the next day to get up and go to Ren Fest.
So, Sunday I was woken up by
drag_on_king at 7:30 to leave for Ren Fest. Since the weather forcast said it was going to only reach the low 70's we all wore jeans and short sleeves/tank tops and brought over shirts. We got there after the gates were open, but before too many people had arrived so we avoided any long lines that form as the day goes on. We shopped a lot, I looked at a lot of different dresses since I would really like a nice outfit, but we decided to commission it from one of our many friends who makes costumes since the price being charged for many of the dresses was 1/2 my paycheck. We did pick up a knight dress up set complete with the wooden sheild & sword, tabbard and helmet for my oldest nephew and part of a Robin Hood out fit as we still need a childs mock long bow, so if any one knows where to find one please let me know. We picked up a Christmas gift for one of our friends because when we saw it there a resounding feeling that it was something they would love and could use. We ate much food purchased a few other things like 2 pewter dragons, one for myself and one for
drag_on_king . The wierdest part about yesterday though was that I ran into a good friend I worked with over the summer 5 years ago and someone I have not seen since I graduated high school. The first friend told me that she and another good friend of mine from the summer had been looking all over for me and was so glad to find me....I was glad to see her too, the other person I ran into, however I really didn't care either way....now there will just be more gossip in my hometown, since I very non-chalantly told her I am a lesbian and introduced her to
drag_on_king . She mentioned that there was a 5 year reunion that was kind of sad, and I advised her I was never invited...she was in the student government our senior year and so I asked about our 10 year reunion, which will be in 2 years and she said she was n't sure what we would do or if we would have one....this in my opinion is because of the people in our student government my senior year...it was one of many popularity contests in my school, that and the fact that many of my classmates remain close to if not in my hometown or visit frequently. I never have, I am just getting to the point where I am talking with my family again. I guess I really want to see how some of the people I was friends with turned out since I have not talked to them since the summer after my freshman year in college and some since before that. I never realized it before, but I guess I do disappear quite frequently and without trying, that is the nice thing about the Twin Cities, is the ability to hide.
drag_on_king has the day off today, so the ride into work was lonely and it feels lonely being here too, its like I know I can call her up and chat with her or email her at home, it is just I am so used to her being here and having the instant response email to talk through. Oh, well, she and
daggerlee are planning on cleaning and tending the garden today, so, it will be nice to come home.
Well, I should really get back to my work, luckily I do not have a lot accounts today.
