In order to make sense of the confusion that is reboot and the Prime universe and to try to make sense of it I have created a time line of events. Yes, I am that much of a geek!
This time line has been developed from information on
Memory Alpha and the official
Star Trek website. Hence I am referencing only those events that are considered ‘canon’. Where there has been a difference between Memory Alpha and the official website (and there are a couple) the official website triumphs.
To make it easier to follow I have also colour coded it. Where there is yellow text it means events that were not affected by Nero, hence they happened in both universes. Where there is blue text are events that are Prime Universe and may or may not happen in the Reboot universe and red text indicates events that happened in the Reboot universe.
I partly did this to help myself understand the events from both universes after watching most of TOS recently. I adore both universes but do understand that they are now fairly separate. Many fic writers and fans want to see how the new Reboot characters might react to similar situations etc, which is understandable as there are many stories and ideas we can borrow and twist from TOS to play with. In some cases, though, I have my doubts if we can apply those situations to our Reboot characters, with what we know has been revealed.
