So for those that are interested this is how Weight Watchers works:
On Wednesday I walk into teh Onehunga Communittee centre and into a cozy room with some chairs set up and a white board at the front and a a couple of tables at the back. One table is obviously set up as the place where one pays and the other one is attached to a scale and a descrete monitor that only the friendly looking middle age lady sitting behind the table can see.
After I sign up Im given this neat little book called "Passport to Success" which I take to the lady at the Pay table and she puts a little sticker in it after I part with $60 (this includes the joining fee, start up booklets and a mini points calculator) then I walk over to the Weigh table and hand my passport over to the Weigh lady who writes down on the little sticker what my weight is, and upon inspection, I see there is also a place where she can write how much Ive gained or lost that week and the total.
Then I sit down on the chairs as the room fills with mostly older women (They were all women at this meeting) but also a girl that must have been about 16 and another women about my age, about 20 people altogether including the leader.
This week's topic is support and the meeting lasted about 15 min in which everyone shared that wanted to share about examples of what they did right or wrong in respect to the support topic. It was actually quite nice and much less of an ordeal than I thouhgt it would be.
When I got home I sat down on my bed and read the little instruction(startup) booklet tha explained to me about the two differn't plans that Weight Watchers has.
You can choose to go on either the Core Plan or the POints plan.
Now the Core Plan basically is that you are alowed 3 meals a day and 2 snack periods. For the meals and the snacks you can eat as much as you want but only from the list of food given. You can also save up to 21 points a week to spend on any food that you want.
Iv'e chosen the points plan. The points plan gives you a little questionere to fill in at the beginning that determines what number of points you are alowed per day. I am alowed 22 point per day.
Then you have a little book that has pretty much any food you can think of in it and it shows you what the points value for that food is. Basically, you can eat whatever you want as long as you stick to your points. Of course they incourage you to spend your points wisely and they have included a start up meal planner for the first week that shows you an example of how you should be eating.
Its a bit more complicated than what Ive written but this is the basic bones of the matter.
I quite like the system and for the first 24 hours that Ive been on the plan it has worked quite well for me. :)
Please feel free to ask quetsions if anyone is interested.
Love
