I'm so glad you're writing fic again! This was really wonderful. Letty and Mia were, of course, in character, but you're a master at that. :) I love that Letty self-corrects, that she's painfully insecure, and especially that she wrote in icing with her finger. Love it all. Great job!

She tells them and watches his eyes close and his mouth tighten and she ignores the way her chest burns and those two ribs ache. Some days she doesn’t know who she’s punishing.

I love this, the way she lashes out through the past, through the memories of what they were like once, the memories of what she wasn't able to save.

Letty drinks straight from the bottle, and she drinks a lot. She drinks until one night she wakes up on the bathroom floor and sees her mother in the mirror. She throws up until there is nothing left, then goes down to the kitchen to dump everything else down the drain. There is nothing left.

This is such a powerful paragraph, from the bit about Letty's mother to that last line, so strong on its own, so layered.

Mia doesn’t really touch Letty much after that.

I love this, that Mia opened herself so thoroughly to Letty, so emotionally, that she has to withdraw after, protect what's left of her heart, her emotions, her pride - what's left of her self.
